Why I Started A Blog

I first starting blogging many years ago; which I deleted. I was young and looking back it was dreadful. A few years later I started this. The main reason I started blogging again was so I could practice writing (my grammar can sometimes be awful, as you can probably see). I studied Journalism at university and writing is something I wanted to scrub up on. I also wanted to develop my own voice, blogging is a great way to do that.

Reading other blogs gives you a real insight into how to make written word a lot more interesting. I’m extremely envious of those who have a certain way with words. Blogs that can make you chuckle or maybe even cry (but there probably won’t be any crying here). Blogs that take the reader on a journey. You can only get better with plenty of practice. Plus, I believe that a lot of great story tellers are only great because they try to emulate their idols.

I’m also interested in Marketing and Social Media. Blogging is a great  way of developing an online presence, and exploring how relationships are built online.

And last, but not least. I sometimes get lost in my own imagination. I also use this space to store these ideas, to grow my creativity. I love design and digital media and taught myself, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects (and still have a lot to learn). Here I can learn new skills, gather feedback and hopefully understand what I am good or bad at.

Blogging is a great way to grow as a person, it gives you a place to share opinions and learn news things. It is something I really enjoy (as I am sure my fellow bloggers understand). There are now millions of bloggers out there. But, sometimes I wonder why some people don’t.

Here are some of the reasons I started a blog. Now it’s your turn, why did you start your blog?

  1. Thanks for an interesting post! I think I started my blog because I wanted to have a “visual” diary of my road-trips around Melbourne and to share my photography rather than have the photos sit inside my hard-drive. I guess starting a blog is also a way to connect with others / find like-minded people, and to share my experiences about places I visited :D

    1. You’re most welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely a great way of keeping track of what you did and when, because traveling becomes a blare. I’m actually traveling in Australia at the moment and blogging about that, so I guess since I wrote this post my reasoning has changed a little too. I’ll be sure to check out you blog sounds interesting.
